What is a Liquid Facelift?
The Liquid Facelift is a non-surgical procedure which relies on injections of different dermal fillers and other injectables, such as Botox and Dysport, to achieve results comparable to surgical facelifts. There are no incisions and/or bleeding. With this procedure the cheeks and pre-jowl areas are lifted and re-contoured. The appearance of the “lower eyelids bags” and tear troughs are also corrected. Additionally the hollow areas of face are also injected, resulting in a plumper and fuller healthier face.
The Liquid Facelift procedure will result in:
- A younger appearing face
- Reduction or elimination of facial lines and wrinkles
- A firmer appearing skin.
- The end result will be an overall rejuvenated and youthful ppearance of the face and jaw lines.

This list does not include all the conditions that may prohibit you to undergo a Liquid Facelift procedure. Be sure to discuss any health concerns or medications with your specialist prior to undergoing the procedure.
How is the procedure performed?
Depending on the fillers being used and the areas being treated, your specialist will use a topical or local anesthetic to numb the injection sites before beginning your procedure. In some cases, a nerve block may also be used. Once the treatment areas are numb, your specialist will inject each area, using a different needle for each individual product. You can expect most injections to last only a few seconds, with the entire procedure taking less than an hour to perform. During and after the completion of the injections your specialist will apply local pressure to the injected sites and “mold” the dermal fillers.
Is the procedure painful?
You may feel some slight discomfort from the injections during the procedure, but anesthetics applied before, and sometimes during, the procedure will minimize this discomfort.
What is the recovery like?
In general, in most cases the recovery time is minimal, with some slight redness, swelling, bruising and discomfort occurring in some patients. Ice packs and over-the-counter medications can be used to treat these after-effects. A small group of patients may experience either extensive localized swelling and/or bruising lasting more than few days. In very rare situations the bruising may last up to few weeks.
What can you do to reduce the risk of bruising or other possible side-effects?
In order to minimize the risk of bruising, unless necessary, you should refrain from taking medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, motrin, naprosyn, aleve for few days prior to undergoing the Liquid Facelift procedure. Same precaution will also apply to use of supplements such as vitamin E or fish-oil.
Please inform your medical specialist if you are prone to fever blisters or cold sores. In such cases, to reduce the risk of a new episode, you may benefit from taking anti-viral medicines few days before and after undergoing any lip augmentation or remodeling procedure.
When will I begin to see results?
Immediately after your Liquid Facelift procedure you will be able to see the initial results, and you can expect those results to evolve and improve during the days and weeks that follow. The optimal results will be evident in about 2 weeks.
What will the long-term results be like?
The duration of your results will vary, based on the filler or in injectable used. Dermal fillers generally last from 3-4 months to more than one year. The effects of Botox usually wear off in about six months. You can prolong your results through touch-up procedures, and your specialist can help develop a schedule that will keep you looking your best.
What are the risks?
Any injection carries a small risk of infection. Individuals with herpes may have an increased risk when the area around the lips is injected. A small percentage of individuals treated with Botox experience a drooping eyelid or eyebrow. Immediately after injection, some dermal fillers may cause tiny lumps to form under the skin, which will disappear as the material spreads out. Individuals with specific health conditions may face additional risks, and your specialist will be able to discuss these with you.
How many sessions are needed?
Depending on your needs, the Liquid Facelift procedure is designed to achieve satisfactory results with just one or two procedure. The second session is usually used for assessment of the procedure’s results and possibly touch-ups.
When can one return to work after a Liquid Facelift?
Most men and women resume their regular activities right after their procedures.
